Good Stuff

I have lots of memories of Wes, but the one that cracks me up to this day was on what should have been a simple ride home from Young Womens. Wes was kind enough to offer me, Jeanette, Miranda and Robert a ride home in his sweet orange VW Bug, even though we definitely lived out of the way. We were packed in pretty tight and all of a sudden, cruising down Russell Rd, the gas peddle broke. I'm not sure he really knew how it happened, or whether to this day it has ever happened to anyone else in the world, but all the same, everyone piled out to push the car. It was quite the adventure. I'm sure it wasn't that funny for Wes at the time, after all, this was his mode of transportation. But hopefully it's one of those things that you can look back at and get a good chuckle now.

I have to admit, I read everyone else's posts and I want to ditto what Jill said. I wasn't the eight year-old, I was the incredibly annoying 13 year-old that tagged along. But like she said, Wes always was my friend and looked past my intolerable audacity and immaturity to see a friend. He always made everyone he met feel like they were interesting and fun to be around. I, too, am grateful for his incredible example and hope he knows how many lives he has helped to change for the better.
